Can Dairy Consumption Prevent Diabetes? A recent study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association documents that dietary patterns characterized by increased dairy consumption may protect overweight young adults  from the development of obesity and Insulin Resistance which are key risk factors for type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease.                                                     (JAMA,Vol.287 No.16, April 24,2002)

Can Fish-Oil Prevent Heart Disease in Women?
Higher consumption of fish and omega-3 fatty acids has been associated with a lower risk of coronary heart disease (CHD) in men. The fish intake and omega-3 fatty acids consumption of 84 688 female nurses enrolled in the Nurses' Health Study, aged 34 to 59 years was followed over 16 years. Among those women with a higher consumption of fish and omega-3 fatty acids  a lower risk of coronary heart disease(CHD) and  CHD deaths was found                (JAMA,Vol. 287 No14,April 10, 2002)
